Biography

Stephanie's journey as a creative soul began when she realized that corporate America was not the right fit for her unique personality. She yearned to express herself in a more significant way, and her passion for acting led her to take workshops at National Black Theatre and Double Image Theatre in the early 1970s. Her dedication to her craft eventually earned her a spot at NYU School of The Arts, where she studied acting in their rigorous Theatre Program, an experience she considers the most rewarding in her life.

As a dramatic actress, Stephanie thrives on reaching emotional depths, yet she is also unapologetically a ham. Born and raised in the South Bronx, her exposure to diverse cultures had a profound impact on her artistic vision. Her work, including plays and screenplays, reflects her commitment to cultural activism, aiming to combat ignorance, promote diversity appreciation, and address various social issues.

Stephanie's impressive body of work includes producing, acting in, and directing her own plays. One of her notable productions is "Blood Makes The Red River Flow", a Creole historical drama that premiered as an AEA Showcase Production during Black History Month in NYC's Theatre District in February 2012. She also remounted her supernatural mystery/thriller "A Wound In Time" for a limited run Off Broadway in November 2012, amidst the chaos of Hurricane Sandy. The screenplay version of "A Wound In Time" was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Back in the Box Screenplay Competition and a quarter-finalist in the 2010 Fade In Awards. The film is currently in production, with Stephanie serving as Executive Producer and Director, and making a cameo appearance as the feisty barmaid, "Charmaine".

Stephanie is also working on a trilogy titled "Women You Thought You Knew", which she plans to produce in a single 2-week run in the fall of 2015. Additionally, she is writing a new play set in ancient times, "Ancients Rising", which she hopes to complete while drawing inspiration from the ancient ruins of Italy.
