Kelley Howell, later known as Stacey Donovan, was born in Encino, California in 1964. Her entry into the adult entertainment industry was driven by financial necessity, as she required a substantial income to support herself. Despite being warned by numerous photographers that she was too attractive for the industry and that it would ultimately ruin her, Stacey persisted, finding the compensation too enticing to abandon.
Throughout her career, Stacey faced opposition from those around her, who cautioned her about the detrimental effects of performing in XXX movies. Her strict Catholic upbringing and lack of prior sexual experience prior to entering the industry meant that she was forced to learn everything on the set. The revelation of her profession to her mother was met with shock, although her father remained unaware of her activities at the time, with Stacey fearing that if he discovered the truth, their relationship would suffer irreparable harm.
At one stage, Stacey aspired to pursue higher education, considering courses in merchandising or child care, indicative of her desire to transition away from the adult entertainment industry and forge a new path in life.
