Soumyajit Majumdar is a multifaceted artist, actor, writer, director, producer, and founder-director of LOK Arts Collective, a pioneering organization in Kolkata's youth-in-arts movement.
As an alumnus of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, Soumyajit has acted in 25 feature films before focusing on his directorial debut, #Homecoming, a project selected for the NFDC Producer's Lab at the Film Bazaar 2019 in Goa.
Soumyajit has also acted in several festival favorites, including Catsticks, directed by Ronny Sen, and Ghost Of The Golden Groves, directed by Roshni Sen and Aniket Dutta. He has also appeared in commercially successful Hindi and Bengali films like Aashiqui 2, Har Har Byomkesh, Bibaho Diaries, Byomkesh Pawrbo, and Zulfiqar.
As a casting director and/or line producer, Soumyajit has been involved in more than 30 feature films and national advertisements. He has also curated around 50 independent art events and festivals and has written, designed, directed, produced, and acted in over 20 plays with more than 300 theatrical performances to his credit.
Soumyajit has been recognized as a Global Changemaker and has been a speaker in various forums. He has conducted self-devised theatre and art therapy workshops in leading schools and colleges across India and has represented India at the Asian Youth Summit for Global Changemakers 2011.
Soumyajit has received several awards, including the YOUNG ACHIEVER 2013 by Whistling Woods International, Mumbai, and the Solo Room Awards at the Monologues festival 2016, Kolkata, for his contributions to the arts.
