Søren Pilmark was born on October 16, 1955, in Copenhagen, Denmark, as Søren Louis Pilmark. He is a renowned actor and writer, having made a significant impact in both national and international platforms throughout his illustrious career.
Pilmark's journey began after graduating from Aarhus Theatre School in 1977, when he was contracted by multiple theatres. He gained widespread recognition for his performances in iconic productions such as 'Hamlet', 'Richard 3.', and as The Engineer in 'Miss Saigon'.
Internationally, Pilmark is best known for his work in the TV series 'The Killing II', as well as the films 'Kon-Tiki' and 'Blinkende Lygter' / Flickering Lights, directed by Anders Thomas Jensen. He also starred in the mini-series 'Riget' / 'The Kingdom', directed by Lars von Trier.
In 2007, Pilmark was nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Short Film" for the film 'Helmer & søn'. Moreover, he has also made a name for himself in the world of commercials, starring as 'Bahnsen' alongside 'Harry', a purple puppet with red hair, in a series of ads for DSB.
Pilmark has also ventured into comedy, co-creating and starring in the "Pallesen-Pilmark Show" in 1984 and the "Ørkenens sønner" series. He has also lent his voice to iconic characters such as Rocky in 'Chicken Run' and O'Malley in 'The Aristocats' in Danish.
One of Pilmark's most notable achievements was co-hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in 2001 alongside Natasja Crone, using a seemingly endless string of rhyming couplets to bring the audience to their feet.
Pilmark has also been part of the comedy quartet Ørkenens Sønner, along with Niels Olsen, Henrik Koefoed, and Asger Reher, performing in 1997, 2001, 2005, 2008, and 2012.
