Sonya Joyner is a multifaceted performer who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, she has built a strong foundation in the New England area, with recent projects taking her to New York.

With a career spanning over 18 years, Sonya began her journey in 2003 and has since become a force to be reckoned with in the world of stage, television, and film. Her early years were spent honing her craft in theatre, laying the groundwork for her future success.

As her career progressed, Sonya shifted her focus towards television and film, where she has made a significant impact. One of her most notable projects is the social justice film "What Happened at the Veterans Home?" which premiered in 2021 and has been making waves on the film festival circuit. The film tackles the response of veterans' homes in America to the COVID-19 pandemic, shedding light on a critical issue.

In addition to her acting work, Sonya has been exploring her creative side as a producer and director. Her latest project is the digital drama series "Love Undone," a spin-off of the award-winning series "Unconditional Love." In this new series, Sonya reprises her role as Juanita Hill, but this time takes on a lead role. The show premieres on YouTube on November 13, 2021, and will later move to its regular time slot on Sundays.

Sonya has also been involved with Red Sage Stories, a predominantly BIPOC theatre troupe that uses improvisational storytelling and dramatization to help people feel heard and validated. The troupe has continued to thrive during the pandemic, adapting their trainings and performances for Zoom and even working with a group of young ladies in Nigeria to teach Playback Theatre and general theatre skills.

As part of her work with Red Sage Stories, Sonya has been involved in several projects, including "Store-d Stories," a documentary that aired on Boston Neighborhood Network in June and July. The project focused on the struggles and triumphs of community store owners in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston during the pandemic.

When she's not acting, Sonya can be found honing her craft through various workshops and classes. She is also a performer at Barrett's Haunted Mansion in Abington, Massachusetts, where she takes on the role of "Dark n Twisty," a character that allows her to showcase her improv skills.

Throughout her career, Sonya has consistently demonstrated her dedication to her craft, always seeking new ways to challenge herself and grow as an artist. With her impressive range and versatility, it's no wonder she has become a sought-after performer in the entertainment industry.
