Sonali Kulkarni was born into a Marathi-speaking family in the culturally rich city of Pune, Maharashtra, India. Her father, an engineer, and her two brothers, Sandeep and Sandesh, were an integral part of her life from a young age.
As a child, Sonali's passion for acting was evident, and she soon got her chance to act during the Ganesh Mahotsav celebrations. Her academic journey began at Abhinav Vidhyalaya in Pune, where she completed her schooling. She then attended Ferguson College, where she majored in Political Science and received a scholarship in Marathi literature.
Sonali's linguistic skills are impressive, as she is fluent in Hindi, Marathi, English, and has also picked up Gujarati, Italian, and Tamil over time.
After attending a workshop by the renowned Satyadev Dubey, Sonali and her brother Sandesh formed a theater group, which they called 'Samanvay'.
Sonali's acting career began with a Tamil movie titled 'Cheluvi', and she has since appeared in a total of 32 movies, including one in Italian titled 'Fuoco Si Di Me'.
Apart from her acting ventures, Sonali is also an Editor with 'Viva', a supplement of 'Loksatta', and writes a weekly column called 'So Kool'.
