Solvan "Slick" Naim is a multi-talented individual, born to an Arab mother and a Jewish father, hailing from Brooklyn, New York. As an Algerian-American director, writer, and rapper, Slick has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry.
Notably, Slick directed the pilot and all episodes of the critically acclaimed Netflix series MO, produced by A24 and Ramy Youssef. Additionally, he directed, starred, produced, and wrote his series, It's Bruno, which is currently streaming on Netflix and received an Emmy nomination.
Slick has also been selected by prominent television networks, including Sony Pictures, FOX, and NBC, for their Diverse Directors TV Program. As a result, he has directed multiple episodes of various television series, such as Snowfall (FX),Changeling (Apple),The Equalizer (CBS),Power (Starz),and The Blacklist (NBC),among many others.
On the feature film side, Slick's debut feature, Full Circle, won the audience award at the Urbanworld Film Festival and was acquired by eOne, premiering theatrically. At the age of 22, he became the youngest feature film producer, with the lowest budget, registered with the New York Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting at the time.
Slick's short film, Stanhope, won Best Picture in HBO's Short Film Competition at the American Black Film Festival. As a rapper, Slick writes treatments to his songs, and he has directed his own music videos, which eventually evolved into film. He is known for his rapid-fire flow and melodic hooks.
Slick released his album, Proof of Concept, the same day as his show It's Bruno!, featuring songs from the album in the series. His music has been featured in several series he's directed and continues to be licensed in other TV shows and films.
Currently, Slick is developing a feature with Spielberg at Amblin, set to direct.
