Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the subject of this biography, a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Amsterdam, has the distinction of being a devoted father to two children.
In addition to his academic pursuits, he has also achieved significant milestones in his professional life. Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from Columbia University, a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs from Brooklyn College, and currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Film Production at the University of Colorado, Boulder, he has demonstrated a remarkable range of expertise.
As an accomplished filmmaker, he has written and directed an impressive 11 films to date. His feature film debut, The Sleeping Negro, which premiered at Slamdance FF in 2021, went on to have an international premiere at the prestigious Champs-Élysées FF in Paris, France.
The Sleeping Negro has garnered numerous accolades, including the FIPRESCI award at IFF Mannheim Heidelberg and the Visionary award at Cinequest FF.
