Sh'Kia is a multifaceted American creative, born to an African-American mother and Jamaican father, who began singing in her small-town Oakland, Florida church choir from a young age.
She recently appeared in Tyler Perry's Caught Up on BET+, as well as in the lead role of Malika 'Kold' Wise in the urban musical drama Kold x Windy on WEtv and AllBlk. Her notable appearance includes the first episode of the final season of Atlanta, alongside Donald Glover and Zazie Beetz.
As a writer, Sh'Kia is a staff writer on CLEO TV's Tough Love: Atlanta and has had her pilot scripts recognized in various screenplay competitions. Her work includes the erotic drama pilot Forbidden Fruit, which was a Quarterfinalist in Screencraft, and the teen/family dramedy Hush, Little Baby, a finalist in WeScreenplay: Diverse Voices.
Sh'Kia also co-produced and wrote the web series Kinfolk: The Series, which was selected for the 2022 Los Angeles Black Film Festival and Tribeca's 2022 Creator's Market. In February 2024, she will self-publish her debut book, "Quiet Storms of a Flawda Girl's Diary: Some Almost Entirely Untrue Short Stories."
Inspired by her small-town upbringing in Florida, as well as literary influences such as "A Writer's Diary by Virginia Woolf," "The Vagina Monologues," and "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf," Sh'Kia's writing journey began during her time at Florida Atlantic University, where she was the President of the Black Student Union and co-wrote and directed a stage play.
After graduating with a BBA in finance and music business, Sh'Kia began performing in community theaters and local film productions, writing, producing, and starring in her web series and short films.
