Shaz Bennett's debut feature film, "Alaska is a Drag", garnered significant attention from esteemed publications such as Vogue, Filmmaker, and OUT magazine, labeling it as a film to watch. The film received numerous accolades, including best feature film and jury awards at the New Filmmakers LA, Leeds, Chattanooga, Urbanworld, and the Smithsonian African American Film Festival.
Bennett's impressive credentials include being one of only eight women selected for the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women, and she was also the winner of the New York Women in Film & Television's Nancy Malone Award.
Bennett's television writing career began with a job on the A&E series "The Glades". She later joined the writing team for Lifetime's "UnREAL" and produced the popular spin-off "The Faith Diaries". Her additional writing credits include the police procedural "Bosch" on Amazon.
