Biography

From the moment I first drew breath in the culturally rich and historically significant nation of Uzbekistan, I was destined to embark on a journey that would take me to the esteemed United Kingdom, where I would make the country my home for the next two decades.

Before arriving in the UK, I had the opportunity to refine my skills as a news and current affairs producer/reporter with the esteemed British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) in the Czech Republic, two organizations renowned for their commitment to unbiased and informative reporting.

Throughout my illustrious career, I have been blessed with the chance to produce a wide range of documentary films, each one a testament to my dedication to the craft. Two of my projects stand out in particular, as they showcase my ability to tackle complex and thought-provoking subjects in a way that is both engaging and informative.

Notable documentaries produced by this individual include 'Airport Donetsk', a captivating and intense account of the fierce battle for Donetsk Airport in Eastern Ukraine, which ultimately earned the prestigious Best Documentary prize at the esteemed Artdocfest film festival in 2015.

Additionally, another remarkable achievement is 'How to Plan A Revolution', a powerful and thought-provoking film that chronicles the courageous and determined fight of young opposition leaders in Azerbaijan against an autocratic and oppressive regime, which garnered the prestigious Prix Europa award for best current affairs television program in 2006.

Not only have I had the esteemed privilege of co-producing a powerful film, but this film, 'Cries From Syria', was masterfully directed by the exceptionally talented Evgeny Afineevsky, an individual who has had the distinction of being nominated for an Academy Award.

Throughout the course of my illustrious career, I have had the opportunity to report from a diverse array of locations, each with its own unique challenges and stories to tell. These locations have included the Occupied Palestinian Territories, a region that has been plagued by conflict and strife, as well as Lebanon, Turkey, Somalia, the Caucasus, Ukraine, and Central Asia, each with its own rich cultural heritage and complex political landscape.

I'm widely recognized for my groundbreaking and provocative BBC Panorama documentary, "My Fake Passports And Me", a meticulous and in-depth examination of the widespread issue of passport falsification in Europe.
