Selen Uçer was born on May 5, 1983, in Istanbul, Turkey. She followed in the footsteps of her parents, both chemical engineers, by studying chemical engineering at Bogaziçi University. During her university years, she participated in theater studies at Bogaziçi Players and took part-time lessons at Istanbul University State Conservatory Voice Department.
Uçer also attended Akademi Istanbul for a year and later moved to the United States to pursue her master's degree in theater and acting at Roosevelt University in Chicago on a scholarship. During her time in the USA, she wrote and staged her play "Dream in New York" (American Dream) at Ensemble Theater on Off-Broadway.
After returning to Turkey in 2004, Uçer taught courses on improvisation, comedy, and character development, as well as the use of voice for acting at Yeditepe University's Theater Acting department. She also conducted workshops at Bogaziçi University's Mithat Alam Film Center.
Uçer's acting career includes starring roles in various productions, including the movie "Narrated Istanbul" in 2005, in which she played the role of Cinderella. She also appeared in DOT's production of "Insect" and was nominated for the Afife Jale Awards for her performance in Haldun Dormen's "Kanto" play.
In 2008, Uçer starred in the movie "Ara" alongside Erdem Akakçe, Betül Çobanoglu, and Serhat Tutumluer, and won the "Best Actress" award at the 15th Adana Golden Boll Film Festival for her role as Gül.
Uçer's subsequent roles include the theater play "Kursiki" in 2015, for which she received the 20th Sadri Alisik Theater and Cinema Actor Awards as the Most Successful Actress of the Year in a Supporting Role. She also directed the play "All Women Are Confused" in 2016, earning the Best Director award at the Ismet Küntay Theater Awards.
In 2018, Uçer played the role of Nilgün in the TV series "Big Big Lies" on Kanal D, alongside Hakan Yilmaz, Evrim Alasya, Pelin Öztekin, Ferdi Sancar, and Rüzgar Aksoy. In 2019, she starred in the TV series "Leke" alongside Burak Sevinç, Melis Sezen, Tolga Güleç, and Tugçe Acikgöz, playing the role of Serpil Zengin.
