Sean Mullin is a celebrated filmmaker with a prestigious educational background, holding a Master of Fine Arts in Film Directing from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science from The United States Military Academy at West Point.
His debut feature-length film as a writer/director, AMIRA & SAM, garnered widespread acclaim before being theatrically distributed by Drafthouse Films in 2015. The film is a poignant love story that follows an army veteran's unlikely affair with an Iraqi refugee, whose relationship is put to the test when she faces the prospect of deportation.
AMIRA & SAM was named "One of the 10 Best Romantic Comedies of the Decade" by Slashfilm, cementing its status as a standout in the genre.
Mullin also co-wrote and co-produced SEMPER FI, a feature-length film released theatrically by Lionsgate Films in 2019. Directed by Academy Award nominee Henry-Alex Rubin and produced by Academy Award nominee David Lancaster, the film stars Jai Courtney, Nat Wolff, Finn Wittrock, Arturo Castro, Beau Knapp, and Leighton Meester.
Currently, Mullin is working on a feature-length documentary about the life of baseball legend Yogi Berra, with the full support of the Berra family. The film will feature interviews with notable figures in the baseball world, including Joe Torre, Derek Jeter, Don Mattingly, Mariano Rivera, Joe Girardi, Ron Guidry, Willie Randolph, Joe Maddon, Bob Costas, and Vin Scully.
Before embarking on his filmmaking career, Mullin served as an army officer in Germany, where he finished his service commitment as a Captain in the New York Army National Guard. He was a first responder after the attacks of September 11th, serving as the Officer in Charge of soldiers down at Ground Zero. In his free time, he honed his comedic skills by performing stand-up comedy.
Today, Mullin resides in Los Angeles, where he runs Five By Eight Productions.
