Sean Cheesman is a globally recognized creative director and choreographer who has collaborated with numerous renowned artists, including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, TLC, Vanessa Williams, Carmen Electra, Tina Turner, Queen Latifah, Cher, and Britney Spears.
As a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, Sean has appeared on various television shows, such as the Canadian, US, and British versions of So You Think You Can Dance, as both a choreographer and guest judge. He has also served as a creative producer and choreographer on CBC's Over The Rainbow, a competition to find the perfect Dorothy for the Mirvish production of The Wizard of Oz.
Sean's impressive credits include his work as host, choreographer, and head judge on the reality show/dance competition Dirty Dancing: Time Of Your Life, which is currently airing on the Living Channel throughout the United Kingdom.
Throughout his illustrious career, Sean has received numerous awards and nominations for his choreography, including the MTV Music Video Award for Best Choreography for Michael & Janet Jackson's "Scream," as well as a Bob Fosse Award nomination for the same work. He has also been recognized for his work on Prince's "Cream" music video, earning an MTV Music Video Award for Best Dance, and for his choreography on Whitney Houston's "I'm Every Woman," which received a NAACP Image Award nomination.
Sean's journey began in Canada as a figure skater and dancer, and he later went on to study at the renowned Alvin Ailey Dance Center in New York. He has toured with Janet Jackson as a choreographer and dancer, and has also worked with Prince, choreographing the "Diamonds and Pearls" tour, as well as tours for Faith Hill, No Angels, and most recently, the "take sport.add music" Nike campaign in Germany and the UK, and the Bacardi "Made To Mix" commercial campaign.
As a performer, Sean appeared in the Warner Brothers film "The Bodyguard" alongside Whitney Houston, and choreographed the film's dance sequences. He has also worked on various television projects, including Prince's ABC television special "The Ride Divine," the NBC television series "Guys Next Door," MTV, Soul Train Awards, and Janet Jackson's performance on "Saturday Night Live."
In addition to his work in television and film, Sean has written, directed, and choreographed large-scale musicals in Russia and Japan, and has most recently set "West Side Story" in Greece and created original choreography for "Daddy Cool" in London's West End, for which he received a What's On Stage Theater Award nomination for Best Choreography.
