Scott Speedman was born in London, England, to Scottish parents, Mary Campbell, a dedicated and passionate primary school teacher, and Roy Speedman, a discerning and detail-oriented department store buyer. He spent his formative years in Toronto, Canada, where he developed a strong affinity for swimming and held a remarkable record for distance freestyle, unfortunately, a life-altering accident forced him to put his swimming aspirations on indefinite hold.
Scott attended Earl Haig High School in Toronto, where he honed his academic skills and developed a keen interest in the arts. He then enrolled at the University of Toronto from 1994 to 1996, where he pursued his passion for learning and personal growth.
On a whim, Scott auditioned for the role of Robin in the iconic film "Batman Forever" (1995),although the part ultimately went to Chris O'Donnell. Nevertheless, his bravery and determination earned him a reputable agent, paving the way for future acting opportunities.
Scott's early film credits include "Kitchen Party" (1997) and "Duets" (2000),where he shared the screen with the talented Gwyneth Paltrow. However, it was his breakout role as Ben Covington in the popular television series "Felicity" (1998) that catapulted him to stardom and cemented his status as a fan favorite.
When "Felicity" concluded in 2002, Scott's film career experienced a significant surge, marked by his memorable performance in the critically acclaimed film "Underworld" (2003),starring the captivating Kate Beckinsale and the esteemed Bill Nighy.
