Scot Ruggles was born in a quaint suburb of Boston, Massachusetts, where his father, Sandy, was a teacher and head coach of two highly successful sports programs at the local high school, football and ice hockey. Scot and his sister, Mary, would often be on the sidelines every Friday night during the fall, cheering on their father and the teams he led to numerous championships. This experience instilled in Scot the importance of teamwork, commitment, and discipline, which had a profound impact on his life and character.
Scot's passion for football continued to grow, and he joined the Marshall University coaching staff in Huntington, West Virginia, where he helped lead the team to a bowl game victory and an AP Top 20 finish. However, during the off-season, he was asked to appear in a commercial for a local hospital partnered with the university. Despite having no prior acting experience, Scot decided to take on the challenge and discovered a newfound love for acting.
As Scot's coaching career progressed, he continued to work at both the professional and collegiate levels. Eventually, he found himself back in Massachusetts at Harvard University, where he was approached by Dunkin' Donuts to appear in a commercial alongside All-Pro Super Bowl Champion Richard Seymour. With his newfound confidence in acting, Scot gave it his all and was selected for the role.
Two months later, Scot received a call from a Boston casting company, asking him to audition for a part. He went in with the same attitude and lessons he learned on the football field and gave it his best. Although he didn't initially get the part, he was eventually asked to audition for the highly acclaimed film, The Departed, directed by Martin Scorsese. Although he didn't get the part, Scot knew he had to make a decision and follow his passion for acting.
Scot packed his car and set out for Los Angeles, where he began to develop his acting skills and appeared in national TV shows and commercials. He has since appeared in CBS' S.W.A.T., AMC's NOS4A2, and co-starred in the film Sunny Daze with Jason Wiles and Michael Beach. In addition to his acting career, Scot continues to mentor and lead young student-athletes at UCLA as the Director of Football Relations and has multiple projects in development to produce, including one with Sony Pictures.
