Sam Chou is an award-winning series creator and director who hails from Ottawa, Canada, where he graduated from Algonquin College's esteemed animation program. He has since made Toronto his home, where he has established himself as a prominent figure in the animation industry.
Before his films gained recognition at prestigious festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Sundance Film Festival, Sam worked as a traditional animator on prominent feature films, including Osmosis Jones (Warner Bros.) and Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights.
In 2014, Sam co-created and directed the web series Crime: The Animated Series, which premiered at both Sundance and TIFF, earning him widespread recognition. The series was awarded Best Series for Adults at the Ottawa International Animation Festival, solidifying Sam's reputation as a talented creator.
That same year, Sam collaborated with Mattel to produce the short film HE-Man: First Snowfall, which was showcased at the Fantasia International Film Festival in 2017. This project further demonstrated Sam's versatility and ability to work on a wide range of projects.
Sam's most recent project, VRDLK: Family of Vurdulak, premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival and won both the Best Animated Short at FilmQuest and the Audience Choice Award at Lusca Fantastic Film Festival, cementing his status as a master of his craft.
