Sam, born in 1993, was the youngest of nine siblings and grew up in Bacup, Lancashire. At the tender age of five, he joined his siblings at a local theatre workshop, where his older sister Emily still works as an accomplished actress. It wasn't long before Sam landed the lead role in an Asda school uniform advertisement, followed by a Warburtons bread commercial at just six years old. This marked the beginning of his serious acting career, with appearances in The Bill and Where the Heart Is.
However, it was his iconic role as Chesney Brown in Coronation Street that catapulted him to fame by the age of ten. He won the Best Newcomer Award at the National Television Awards and became the nation's favourite redhead. The following year, he had the esteemed honour of presenting a bouquet to the Queen at a party celebrating 50 years of Coronation Street.
In 2006, Sam had the unique experience of filming inside Buckingham Palace for his role as Horrid Henry in the Children's Party at the Palace, which was held to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday. After many years of dedication to his craft, Sam married his long-term girlfriend, yoga teacher Briony Gardner, in 2019. The couple had been together since Sam was 18.
In addition to his acting career, Sam runs an embroidery and printing business with one of his brothers, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. Despite his busy schedule, he remains committed to his craft and continues to entertain audiences with his captivating performances.
