Salman Rushdie, a renowned author, tied the knot with the talented actress Padma Lakshmi, the charismatic hostess of the popular travel documentary series "Padma's Passport", on April 17th, 2004. Notably, his eighth novel, "Fury", published in 2001, was dedicated to his beloved wife.
Earlier, in 1989, the late Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa against Rushdie for his controversial novel "The Satanic Verses", which was condemned on February 14th of that year. As of now, Rushdie is diligently working on his ninth novel.
Before devoting his life to writing full-time, Rushdie enjoyed a successful career as a copywriter at Ayer Barker in London, a prominent advertising agency, until 1982.
