Ryan Benjamin Tedder was born on June 26, 1979, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, a city that would later become a significant part of his musical journey. Despite being a self-taught musician, Tedder's passion for music was evident from a young age, as he began playing the piano at just three years old and spent a minimum of two hours a day honing his vocal skills.
As he grew older, Tedder's family relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he attended Colorado Springs Christian School in his senior year. It was during this time that he met his future band mate, Zach Filkins, and discovered a shared passion for music.
After high school, Tedder went on to attend Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma, where he earned a degree in Public Relations and Advertising in 2001. However, it was during his time at university that Tedder began to focus on his musical ambitions, showcasing his work and laying the foundation for his future success.
Upon graduating, Tedder landed an internship at DreamWorks SKG in Nashville, Tennessee, a move that would ultimately help him achieve his goal of breaking into the music industry. He also competed in a musical singer-songwriting competition sponsored by Lance Bass, which, although it didn't quite live up to his expectations, did catch the attention of producer Timbaland, a connection that would prove to be a turning point in his career.
Today, Tedder is the front man of the pop rock band OneRepublic, providing leading vocals and keyboard. He has written or co-written three successful albums with the group and has also worked as a songwriter and producer for other notable artists, including Adele, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, and Beyoncé.
In his personal life, Tedder resides in Colorado with his wife, Genevieve, and their two sons, Copeland and Miles.
