Rudy Dobrev embarked on his acting career in 1992, landing the role of "Andrea" in the RAI Television mini-series "Gli anni d'oro" after outperforming hundreds of other candidates. This initial success paved the way for him to take on other European projects in television and theater, before making the transition to the United States.
Throughout his education, Rudy was exposed to a diverse range of cultures and academic environments, graduating from high school in the States and later training with Deborah Aquila at the Aquila/Morong studio for actors in Los Angeles.
In addition to his acting training, Rudy also honed his skills at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in London, where he spent July and August of 2010.
Since relocating to Los Angeles in 2005, Rudy has appeared in a variety of television shows, including "The Kings of Babylon", "Veronica Mars", "The Unit", "CSI: NY", "Til Death", and "Days of Our Lives", where he played the recurring role of "Juan Fortin". Most recently, he appeared on "Law & Order: LA" in 2010.
When he's not acting, Rudy can be found pursuing his passion for aviation. He holds a Flight Instructor License and a Commercial Pilot's License from the elite Delta Connection Aviation Academy in Orlando, Florida, and enjoys flying planes on the weekends out of Santa Monica.
Rudy's family background is steeped in history and tradition. His father is a shipbuilder with Lloyds Register of London, and his family name, "Dobrev", is immortalized in the history textbooks of Bulgaria. His grandfather, Admiral Ivan Dobrev, was the minister of defense for the Republic. Rudy has an older brother, and the family resides outside of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Los Angeles, California.
