Ruben's birthplace is the vibrant city of Amsterdam, located in the country of Holland, where his American mother, Heidi Snellman, and Dutch father, Rajendra Bansie, welcomed him into the world. However, the family's harmony was disrupted when his parents decided to part ways in 1990, following which Ruben, accompanied by his mother and sister, made the journey back to the United States.
The trio settled in the picturesque city of Portland, Oregon, where Heidi Snellman's career in the music industry played a significant role in shaping Ruben's early life. He often accompanied his mother to concerts and music festivals, which undoubtedly instilled in him a deep appreciation for the performing arts. As he grew older, Ruben's education took him to various alternative arts schools in the Northwest and Southeast Portland neighborhoods, as well as high school in the Northeast Portland area.
It was during his high school years that Ruben landed his first acting role in Gus Van Sant's critically acclaimed film, "Elephant", marking the beginning of his journey as a professional actor.
