Ronald Patrick Thompson, named in loving memory of his late Uncle Ronnie, was born on May 18, 1981, in the vibrant city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His ancestry is a rich tapestry, woven from the threads of Caribbean heritage on his mother's side and a unique blend of Russian and Austrian roots on his father's.
Growing up in Montreal until the tender age of 12, Ronald's formative years were filled with the sights, sounds, and flavors of the city. He then relocated to Cornwall, Ontario, where he spent the next seven years of his life, attending Gladstone Public School and Cornwall Collegiate & Vocational School (CCVS). Interestingly, Ronald shared the same educational institution as fellow actor Ryan Gosling, with whom he was part of the prestigious "Program of The Arts" acting program, although not simultaneously. Throughout his high school years, Ronald was an accomplished athlete, participating in various sports as both a player and coach, showcasing his talents in track and field as well as basketball. His hard work and dedication earned him gold medals in both basketball and the 4 x 100 relay during his graduating year.
Following his high school graduation, Ronald returned to his hometown of Montreal, where he enrolled in Dawson College. However, his academic pursuits were temporarily interrupted when he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during a tryout for the AA Men's basketball team. Rather than opting for surgery, Ronald chose to spend a year rehabilitating his knee, only to have the misfortune of tearing the ACL in his left knee during the following year's tryout. This setback prompted Ronald to embark on a new adventure, spending an extended period of 5 1/2 years in Taiwan, where he taught English at a private kindergarten and explored the wonders of South East Asia and Europe.
In 2008, Ronald arrived in Vancouver, where he enrolled in New Image College's professional acting program. He is now proudly represented by Trisko Talent Management, with a string of impressive credits to his name, including Supernatural, Fringe, Rogue, Six, and Travelers.
