Ron Eldard, a former Golden Gloves boxer, has established a successful career in various mediums, including stage, television, and feature films. Born in New York, he graduated from the prestigious High School of the Performing Arts, where he studied drama. Eldard made his feature film debut in Nancy Savoca's True Love (1989) and went on to land major roles in films such as Sleepers (1996),where he played an inner-city youth struggling with the consequences of a prank gone wrong.
On stage, Eldard made a name for himself with off-Broadway productions like "Ave Nu Boys" and "Servy 'n' Bernice 4Ever", as well as his one-man show, "Standing Eight Count". He has also appeared in several Broadway productions, including Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues" and "On the Waterfront".
Eldard's television credits include starring roles in the short-lived NBC sitcom Men Behaving Badly (1996) and the NBC medical drama ER (1994),where he played a paramedic and love interest for nurse Julianna Margulies during the show's second season. He has also appeared in several made-for-television movies, including Showtime's Bastard Out of Carolina (1996) and HBO's When Trumpets Fade (1998).
