Dr. Rolland Baker is a devout Christian missionary and the esteemed President of Iris Global, a humanitarian organization dedicated to Christian principles. Born in China, he was raised in a unique cultural environment, having spent time in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. His grandfather, H. A. Baker, left a profound impact on his life, as his grandfather's book, "Visions Beyond the Veil," documented the extraordinary visions of heaven and hell experienced by children in a remote Chinese orphanage.
Dr. Baker's personal life is deeply intertwined with his missionary endeavors. He met his wife, Heidi, in 1979, and they exchanged vows just six months later in 1980. Following their wedding, they embarked on the mission field mere weeks after, driven by their shared passion for spreading the Christian message. In 1985, they were officially ordained as ministers.
In 1980, the Bakers co-founded Iris Global, a non-profit Christian ministry committed to charitable service and evangelism, particularly in developing nations. Two decades later, in 1995, the couple relocated to Mozambique to establish a new ministry focused on the care and support of orphaned and abandoned children.
In this African nation, Iris Global negotiated with the government to assume responsibility for a former government orphanage in Chihango, situated near the capital city of Maputo. The orphanage, which initially housed around 80 children, became a hub for the Bakers' humanitarian efforts.
