Biography

Robert Neal Marshall was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but grew up in New York City and Englewood, New Jersey. His mother, Bette Marshall (nee Lieb),is a Broadway and television actress turned photographer, and his father, Paul G. Marshall, is an entertainment law attorney. Marshall's grandfather, Jack H. Lieb, was a newsreel cameraman who filmed historic events such as Charles Lindbergh's takeoff for Paris in 1927 and the D-Day invasion.

Marshall started his career in the West End of London, working as an assistant to producer Richard Armitage on several hit shows, including Me and My Girl and High Society. He later produced and directed the successful West End debut of Is There Life After High School? at the Donmar Warehouse.

As a member of the Lincoln Center Theatre Directors' Lab, Marshall collaborated with composer Tim Battle on the children's musical Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter, which received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the National Theatre in Washington, D.C.

Marshall has also worked as a casting associate, winning an Emmy award for his work on HBO's Game Change and receiving an Emmy nomination for his work on VEEP. He has also collaborated on several feature films and industrials, including The Night Watchmen.

In addition to his work in the entertainment industry, Marshall has served as tour manager for Rain Pryor's one-woman show Fried Chicken and Latkes and produced a workshop production of After All, starring Anita Gillette.

As a member of the Dramatists Guild, Sag-Aftra, and Actors Equity, Marshall has appeared in leading roles on several stage, television, and film projects, including Somali Pirate Takedown: The Real Story and Countdown to Ground Zero. He has also appeared in the Off-Broadway and Baltimore Hippodrome productions of The Awesome 80s Prom.

Marshall is a guest speaker on board the RMS Queen Mary 2 and has released several documentaries, including Three Queens: An International Rendezvous and Mr. Ocean Liner. His most recent documentary, Back From The Light, explores the aftereffects of surviving a Near Death Experience.
