Robert Gabriel Mugabe, a renowned Zimbabwean revolutionary and politician, held the esteemed positions of Prime Minister from 1980 to 1987 and subsequently as President from 1987 to 2017. Throughout his illustrious career, he served as the visionary leader of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) from 1975 to 1980, before spearheading its successor political party, the ZANU - Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF),from 1980 to 2017.
As a stalwart advocate for African nationalism, Mugabe's political ideology underwent significant transformations over the years. Initially, during the 1970s and 1980s, he identified as a Marxist-Leninist, driven by a fervent commitment to socialist principles.
