Robert Harrison's early life was marked by his fascination with music, which began at a young age. He grew up in Greenock, Scotland, in the 1960s and developed a strong interest in Pink Floyd, citing them as one of his favorite artists and a significant influence on his music career.
Robert's first band, Tut Ka Mun, was formed in the early 1980s, and the group toured Scotland throughout the decade before disbanding. Although the experience was valuable, Robert continued to work with various bands, eventually joining The Promise in the 1990s.
During his time with The Promise, Robert contributed to the writing and recording of a song that was entered to become the official song for Scotland in the 1998 World Cup. Although the song did not win, it remains a memorable experience for Robert.
To supplement his income, Robert worked as a swimming pool manager at Wemyss Bay Holiday Park, where he became a qualified lifeguard and used sub-aqua equipment to maintain the pool.
Robert's transition into acting was unexpected but fortunate. He received a call from a researcher for a film being produced by Parallax Pictures, who were seeking someone to play a grandfather role. Robert's connections led them to a suitable candidate, and he was subsequently asked to help with other tasks.
Ken Loach, the director of Sweet Sixteen (2002),met with Robert and offered him a role as a gangster in the film. This opportunity opened doors for Robert, leading to work on various TV productions, including Rockface (2002),Taggart (1983),Monarch of the Glen (2000),and The Planman (2003),starring Robbie Coltrane.
Robert's feature film work has included Dear Frankie (2004),starring Gerard Butler, Man to Man (2005),starring Joseph Fiennes and Kristin Scott Thomas, and Cape Karma, where he played the first Scotsman to be cast as a henchman in a Bollywood film.
Recent projects have seen Robert cast as Kenny in the short film Trawler, by Digi-Cult, and as the villainous henchman Aspirin in Scottish Sci-Fi short Night is Day by Silly Wee Films. He will appear as a terrorist on Channel 5's game show Commando VIP later this year.
