Robert Alonzo's journey through the film business began in Los Angeles, where he started drawing flip pages of his favorite cartoons at the tender age of six, a passion that continued until he was introduced to martial arts, an obsession that would last a lifetime.
At a very young age, Robert began training in martial arts with his brother, earning black belts in Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido under the guidance of Grandmaster Jun Chong. However, his dedication to martial arts was not limited to a single style, as he sought knowledge in multiple disciplines, competing and excelling in various international martial arts competitions.
Despite his devotion to martial arts, Robert's childhood dreams of filmmaking continued to evolve, as he earned an academic scholarship to Loyola Marymount University, where he graduated with a BA degree in Studio Arts and Communication Studies, while minoring in Animation and Business Marketing. During his time at university, Robert trained under Dan McLaughlin and created his first hand-drawn animated senior thesis film, titled "The Dive of Life".
After graduation, Robert worked as a Junior Art Director at Envision Group, but his love for martial arts and filmmaking eventually led him to become a stunt performer. Over the years, he has accumulated over 200 credits in film, television, commercials, and music videos, working extensively with A-list talent, including Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Jeremy Renner, and many more.
With an extensive international resume as a Stunt Performer, Fight Choreographer, Stunt Coordinator, and Action/2nd Unit Director, Robert combines his creative storytelling ability with his knowledge of live action filmmaking techniques and visual/special effects to deliver unforgettable action sequences across various genres. His 2nd Unit directing credits include Oblivion, Tomorrowland, Deadpool, Proud Mary, Bright, Braven, and Alpha. Additionally, he worked closely with the storyboard artists and animators of Disney Pixar's Incredibles 2 to help formulate character-driven action that showcases the physics of live action filmmaking.
