Biography

Robert Alda's illustrious career in the entertainment industry began with a stint in vaudeville, showcasing his talents as a singer-dancer to audiences. He subsequently transitioned to radio and burlesque, honing his skills and building a reputation. His film debut, as the iconic George Gershwin in Rhapsody in Blue (1945),made a significant splash, garnering attention and acclaim.

Although his film career experienced a slight downturn following his impressive debut, Robert Alda found greater success on the Broadway stage. He appeared in numerous productions, including the highly acclaimed "Guys and Dolls" and "What Makes Sammy Run".

As the 1960s approached, Robert Alda made the decision to settle in Rome, Italy, where he would go on to appear in a plethora of Italian and European films over the next 15 years. While many of these productions were met with critical acclaim and commercial success in Europe, few managed to cross the Atlantic and receive widespread recognition in the United States.

It's worth noting that Robert Alda is the proud father of two accomplished actors, Alan Alda and Antony Alda, who have both made significant contributions to the world of entertainment.
