Rick Washburn's life began with his birth to his parents, Richard Ryder Washburn and Jane Chandler. This significant event marked the start of his journey, which would eventually lead him to the bright lights of New York City. In 1979, Rick made the bold decision to leave his childhood home on the picturesque island of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, and embark on a new adventure in the city that never sleeps. He was drawn to the allure of the stage, and the opportunity to hone his craft under the tutelage of the renowned Lee Strasberg. For three years, Rick dedicated himself to the study of acting, absorbing every ounce of knowledge and expertise that Lee had to offer. Tragically, Lee's life was cut short in 1982, but Rick's passion for the art form remained unwavering. Undeterred by the loss of his mentor, Rick went on to found Weapons Specialist Ltd., a theatrical weapons consulting and rental corporation, of which he is still proudly the president. In 1983, this venture brought him to the forefront of the industry, and his expertise in this field has been sought after by countless productions. Today, Rick resides and works in the vibrant and eclectic neighborhood of Soho, New York City, where he continues to make a name for himself as a talented character actor, known for his impressive range and ability to master accents and dialects.
