Biography

Richard Rowley is a renowned director who has garnered numerous accolades for his work, including an Oscar nomination and three Emmy wins. His films have been recognized with prestigious awards, such as the Television Academy Honors, the DuPont-Columbia Award, the George Polk Award, and multiple Peabody nominations. Additionally, his films have been honored at festivals worldwide.

Rowley's Oscar-nominated feature film, Dirty Wars, was the culmination of his decade-long career as a war reporter in Iraq, Afghanistan, and lesser-known battlegrounds of America's war on terror. Since then, he has turned his attention to the domestic racial nightmare, producing films that shed light on the issue.

In 2019, Rowley created a feature film for Showtime, 16 Shots, which won Television Academy Honors and received a Peabody nomination for its unflinching portrayal of the police murder of Laquan McDonald and the subsequent cover-up. His Emmy-winning series, Documenting Hate, exposed an underground Nazi fight-club and a terrorist cell, prompting an FBI investigation that led to dozens of arrests. The series also received a DuPont Award.

Rowley's latest film, Kingdom Of Silence, is a powerful exploration of the life and death of Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and won him his third Emmy.
