Biography

Rick Mowat, a renowned writer and director, has made a name for himself in the industry with his critically acclaimed work. His first feature film, "A Cat's Tale", won him the Best Director award, showcasing his exceptional talent.

As a graduate of The Juilliard School, Mowat has also created a series of award-winning short films, including "Hunter iS F**ked", which has gained recognition in over 12 festivals and received accolades for Best Dark Comedy and Best Ensemble Cast.

In addition to his film work, Mowat has also ventured into the world of theater. He was a co-writer and performer in the hit theatrical comedy "Smash The Treadmill", which earned the #1 Critics Pick by TimeOut Magazine. He has also directed numerous stage productions, including the award-winning "Can't Cut My Head Off" at Polaris North and the sci-fi rock musical "The Last American".

Mowat's extensive experience in theater has also led him to work with several prominent companies, including the Dramatic Question Theater Company, The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, and The Soho Playhouse. His recent directing credits include "La Got Fria (A Comedy about Cancer)" at the Thalia Theater in NYC, "Marcel and Eddie" at the Tarte Theater, and "Murray & Curry" at the Depot Theater in Garrison, NY.

As an actor, Mowat has appeared in Woody Allen's "Celebrity", "Sweet and Lowdown", and "The Town I Love", as well as worked as an improvisational sketch actor in clubs around the country.

Mowat's upcoming projects include his second feature film, "Last Pint", which he co-wrote and will direct in 2023. He has also contributed articles to prominent film publications, including Filmmaker and Script magazines.
