Richard Sears, a talented filmmaker, made his mark in the industry after graduating from the San Francisco Art Institute. His short film, An Evil Town, was adapted from a Charles Bukowski short story and went on to win numerous awards, including Cannes - Le Semaine de la Critique and The New York Underground Film Festival.
Following this success, Sears directed Bongwater (1997),a film featuring a relatively unknown cast, including Luke Wilson, Jack Black, and Brittney Murphy. The film premiered at the LA Independent Film Festival and has since become a cult classic.
In addition to his film work, Sears was enlisted by Weiden & Kennedy Advertising Agency to direct commercials for ESPN, launching his career in commercial directing. Over the past 10 years, he has produced over 100 commercials.
Sears has also written and directed short films for various clients, including Canal Plus/France, Nissan, University of Phoenix, and the Department of Homeland Security. His films have been showcased at numerous festivals worldwide, including Cannes, Rotterdam, San Sebastian, Berlin, Toronto, Houston, Sonoma, and Palm Springs.
Currently, Sears serves as an Executive Creative Director of experiential / immersive events at Experiential Studio. He uses his expertise in AR/VR, theming, props, content, and interactive storytelling to create immersive experiences that transport audiences into a story-based world.
