Person Biography:
Richard Kahan, a renowned writer and producer, was born and raised in the vast open prairies of Canada. With a career spanning over 25 years in the film and television industry, he has worked on numerous projects that have garnered critical acclaim and commercial success.
Starting his career as an actor, Richard appeared in over 100 hours of television and various films, starring alongside esteemed actors such as Dennis Hopper. He then transitioned to series regular roles, including his Emmy-nominated performance on USA Network's THE 4400. His impressive list of guest appearances includes THE MENTALIST and GREY'S ANATOMY.
Richard's passion for writing and producing led him to work under the guidance of his mentor, Ira Steven Behr, a prolific writer/producer/show runner. He made significant contributions to Sony Television/Starz's multi-Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series OUTLANDER, penning one of the highest-rated episodes.
His subsequent work includes producing LUCKY, a feature film that marked the final performance of screen legend Harry Dean Stanton, featuring an impressive supporting cast. The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival and received both critical and financial success, selling to Magnolia Pictures for theatrical release in North America and over 50 international markets.
Richard's extensive portfolio includes writing and producing THE ELEVATOR, a web series starring William Shatner, adapting Christal Presley's memoir THIRTY DAYS WITH MY FATHER, and producing LIFELINE, a feature film for Academy Award-winning The Lagralane Group (Netflix's ICARUS). He also produced KILLING ELEANOR, a feature film set to be released in 2021, starring a talented ensemble cast.
Most recently, Richard was hired to write PONZI: PURE AND TRUE, a feature film based on Charles Ponzi's biography, and is currently working on the highly anticipated television series BEACON 23, based on Hugh Howey's novel, for Spectrum and AMC.
