Richard E. Wilson, a talented actor, received widespread critical acclaim for his outstanding performance in the lead role of Henry Dean in the feature film Noble Fir (2014). He was nominated for the Stellae Award for Best Actor at the 2014 Pan Pacific Film Festival, a testament to his remarkable acting skills. Critics praised his portrayal of Henry Dean, stating that he "played with stunning sensitivity and insight" (The Independent Critic),and that he was "thoroughly remarkable" (Influx Magazine). Wilson's performance was also described as "brilliantly played" (Christian Review).
Born and raised in the Kansas City area, Wilson credits his parents, C.Emmett Wilson and Vonnie Wilson, with instilling in him the empathy required to take on various roles. Throughout his life, he has lived in five different regions in the United States, as well as Tokyo and northern Japan. Wilson currently resides and works primarily in Los Angeles, California.
Wilson's recent work includes Kain to Aberu (2016) (Japan),The Colors of Emily (2017),and Blue Call (2021). He has also appeared in The Vancouver Asahi (2014),a major Japanese film directed by Japan Academy Award-winning director Yuya Ishii, and Mission Improbable (2016). Prior to his acting career, Wilson had aspirations as a soccer player and before that as a tennis player, so he continues to stay active.
Before pursuing acting, Wilson worked as a civil engineer and later moved to Japan to teach English in universities. He began his acting career in Japan, following in the footsteps of his daughters. His first film was Uchu Kyodai (Space Brothers - 2012),in which he played a NASA staff member. He has also appeared in The Good Book (2014) as The Preacher. Wilson has appeared in several national commercials in Japan, including COCO Juku language schools, which gained over 900,000 views on YouTube after its TV airing was completed. He is also recognizable across Japan as the CEO in a series of 9 Daikin air conditioner commercials that were broadcast nationally from 2013 to 2015.
Today, Wilson resides and works in Los Angeles, frequently traveling to Tokyo.
