Biography

Rebecca Gethings was born in 1976 in Alberta, Canada, but her early life was shaped by her upbringing in Berkshire, England.

Rebecca's academic pursuits led her to The Webber Douglas Academy, where she studied drama and graduated in 1995.

Her early professional endeavors included appearances in the West End production of Vassa, directed by Howard Davis, as well as roles in the popular British soap opera Eastenders and the BBC2 series Attachments.

In 2005, Rebecca's career took a significant turn when she was cast as Lizzie Bunton in the critically acclaimed sitcom Extras. This episode, centered around a pantomime starring Les Dennis, showcased Rebecca's talents as she played the daughter of a camp pantomime director, Bunny, whose 29th birthday party was attended only by elderly relatives and Maggie, played by Ashley Jensen.

Rebecca's passion for improvised comedy was discovered during her work with the American cast of the HBO series Veep. She played a key role in developing characters for Seasons 1 and 3, and also appeared in a small role in the episode "Special Relationship".

Armando Iannucci, the renowned creator of Veep, continued to collaborate with Rebecca in 2012 when she took on the role of Helen Hatley, special advisor to Nicola Murray, in the fourth series of The Thick of It.
