Ray's early life was marked by his passion for baseball, spending his teenage summers playing the sport and enjoying the leisurely atmosphere of the Boardwalk, where he would often be found attempting to impress older women. It was during this time that he discovered his talent for music, devoting countless nights to honing his skills on the drums.
As he entered adulthood, Ray's athletic pursuits led him to receive a baseball scholarship to a university in Georgia. With a promising career in the minor leagues ahead of him, he was well on his way to achieving his goals. However, a knee injury intervened, forcing him to re-evaluate his priorities and ultimately making the decision for him to focus on music.
Returning to New York, Ray relocated to the city and quickly established himself as a versatile and in-demand artist. He juggled part-time acting and modeling gigs with his full-time passion for music, barely getting any rest. Ray's drumming talents were in high demand, and he played with several bands, including the Lower East Side hipster group, "Some Action."
It was during this period that Ray caught the attention of Wendy James, the former lead singer of "Transvision Vamp," who offered him a spot in her new band, Racine. Ray accepted the offer and embarked on a European tour with the band, performing in England and various other countries.
Following his stint with Racine, Ray met the Brothers Grimm, the guitarist and bassist from the band "Lower 48." They introduced him to Gray Madder, and Ray has been an integral part of the band ever since, contributing his unique drumming style to their music.
