Biography

Ramaa Mosley, a writer-director, was born in an ashram that her family had to escape from, setting the stage for a life that sounds like a movie. She made her first film at the tender age of fifteen, winning the prestigious Global 500 award, and her career took off from there.

Mosley was soon discovered and began directing music videos and commercials, a path she has followed for over two decades. During this time, she has directed numerous feature films and hundreds of award-winning commercials, building a reputation for directing both action-packed and genuinely human stories.

As one of Shoot Magazine's top 10 female directors, Mosley is also the founder of Adolescent Content, a global creative youth studio. She has recently given a TED Talk on the topic of being a teen director, titled "The Power of Adolescent Directors."

Mosley has a deep passion for science fiction and action films, as well as a love of comic books. She directed her debut feature film, "The Brass Teapot," which she co-wrote and starred Juno Temple. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was distributed by Magnolia Pictures. It was also nominated for the International Critics Award and the Saturn Award in 2015.

In 2014, Mosley directed the Afghan segment of "Girl Rising," a documentary that was nominated for the Outstanding Documentary award at the Image Awards. Since then, she has been a vocal advocate for girls' and women's rights around the world, launching the U.S. social media campaign behind Bring Back Our Girls.

Mosley's second feature film, the dramatic thriller "Tatterdemalion" (also known as "Lost Child"),is set to be released theatrically in September 2018. Shot in the Ozarks, the film stars Levin Rambin, Taylor John Smith, and Jim Parrack. Mosley is based in Los Angeles.
