Rajiv Kapoor, the third and lesser-known son of the renowned showman Raj Kapoor, and grandson of the illustrious Prithviraj Kapoor, was born on August 25, 1962, in Bombay.
He is the brother of Randhir, Ritu, Rima, and Rishi Kapoor, and his nickname is Chimpu. His sister-in-laws are the talented Bollywood actresses Babita and Neetu Singh.
Rajiv's paternal uncles are the legendary Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, cousin to Karan, Sanjana, and Kunal, and he is uncle to the beautiful actresses Karisma and Kareena. His aunt Jennifer is the wife of Shashi Kapoor, who has also acted in several movies.
Rajiv began his career as a leading man in 1983 with the film 'Ek Jaan Hai Hum', and went on to act in numerous films, including 'Aasman', 'Zabardast', 'Mera Saathi', 'Lava', 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili', 'Lover Boy', 'Preeti', 'Zalzala', 'Shukriya', 'Hum To Chale Pardes', 'Naag Nagin', and 'Zimmedar' in 1990, which was his last known appearance as an actor.
After his acting career, Rajiv was involved in the productions of 'Henna', 'Prem Granth', and 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen', and also directed 'Prem Granth'. He has been the editor of 'Prem Granth', 'Prem Rog', and 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen', and was also involved in the direction of 'Biwi O Biwi'.
Throughout his career, Rajiv has co-starred with several talented actresses, including Mandakini, Kimi Katkar, Amrita Singh, Vijayata Pandit, Padmini Kolhapure, Meenakshi Sheshadhiri, Dimple Kapadia, Divya Rana, Rati Agnihotri, and Tina Munim, among others.
In 1998, Rajiv was awarded the prestigious 'Filmfare Award', which he accepted on behalf of the RK banner.
