Pooya Mohseni, a multifaceted individual, is an Iranian American actress, writer, filmmaker, and transgender activist. Born and raised in Tehran, Iran, she developed a passion for acting and storytelling during her teenage years in New York, where she eventually settled.
With a diverse range of television credits, Pooya has guest-starred on prominent shows such as Law & Order: SVU, Falling Water, Madam Secretary, and Big Dogs on Amazon Prime. Notably, she became the first middle eastern trans actor to portray a judge on a prime-time procedural.
In her latest feature film, Pooya takes on the lead role in Mari Walker's "See You Then," set to be released in 2021. This talented actress is a graduate of the prestigious Maggie Flanigan Studio, continually expanding her repertoire by playing a wide variety of characters, while delving into their humanity and vulnerability.
Pooya is fluent in Persian/Farsi and actively advocates for transgender rights, as well as immigrant and women's issues. Additionally, she is involved in writing and consulting on original LGBT stories, aiming to bring attention to an often underrepresented community.
