Poonam Bajwa is a multifaceted actress who has made a significant impact in the South Indian film industry. Born and raised in Mumbai, she comes from a Punjabi family, but her upbringing in the city has undoubtedly had a profound influence on her artistic journey.
Before venturing into the world of cinema, Bajwa was crowned Miss Pune in 2005, marking the beginning of her foray into the world of modeling. She did part-time modeling assignments while still pursuing her studies, showcasing her versatility and dedication to her craft.
Bajwa's big break came when she was spotted by Kuchipudi Venkat, the director of the Telugu movie Modati Cinima (2005),during a ramp show in Hyderabad. She was offered a role in the movie and went on to excel academically while completing her English Literature degree from Symbiosis International University in Pune.
In 2006, Bajwa made her debut in the Telugu film industry with the movie Premante Inthe (2006),followed by appearances in several other Telugu movies, including Boss (2006) alongside Nagarjuna Akkineni and Bommarillu Baskar, and Parugu (2008). The same year, she made her debut in the Kannada film industry with the movie Thangigagi (2006).
Bajwa's foray into the Tamil film industry began in 2008 with the movie Seval, followed by appearances in several other films, including Thenavattu (2008),Kacheri Arambam (2010) with Jiiva, Drohi (2010),and Thambikottai (2011).
In 2011, Bajwa made her debut in the Malayalam film industry with the movie Chinatown, followed by appearances in several other Malayalam movies, including Venicile Vyapari (2011) with Mammootty.
Bajwa continued to appear in a range of films throughout the years, including Masth Mohabbat (2016) in the Kannada film industry and Aranmanai 2 (2016) and Muthina Kathirika (2016) in the Tamil film industry. In 2017, she appeared in the Malayalam movie Zacharia Pothen Jeevichirippundu.
In 2022, Bajwa appeared as the Queen of Travancore, Mathruppillil Kalyanikutty Amma, in Vinayan's Pathonpatham Noottandu (2022),as well as in Mei Hoom Moosa (2022) as Kunjipaathu and in the Tamil movie Gurumoorthi (2022).
