Philippe Martinez's professional journey spans over three decades, marked by significant milestones and accomplishments. From 1988 to 1990, he served as the President of the renowned Odeon Theater in Marseilles, one of the largest playhouses in Europe.
In 1990, Martinez decided to pivot and focus on a career as a feature film producer, relocating to the United States. He became the Chairman of the Board of Ulysses Entertainment, a distribution company with offices in Los Angeles, Paris, and London.
Between 1996 and 1999, Martinez headed Betar Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based company with offices in Montreal, producing Canadian co-productions for international distribution. During this period, he served as Executive Producer on the features Ultimate Weapon, starring Hulk Hogan, and In Her Defense, starring Marlee Matlin and Michael Dudikoff.
In 1999, Martinez founded Bauer Martinez Studios and has since produced over 14 films, including The Piano Player, starring Christopher Lambert and Dennis Hopper, Out of Season, starring Dennis Hopper and Gina Gershon, The Defender, starring Dolph Lundgren and Jerry Springer, Dot Kill, starring Armand Assante and directed by John Irvin, and House of 9, starring Dennis Hopper and Kelly Brook.
Most recently, Martinez produced Modigliani, starring Andy Garcia and Elsa Zylberstein, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and will open the Miami International Film Festival.
In addition to his producing credits, Martinez has also ventured into directing, completing Citizen Verdict, starring Armand Assante and Jerry Springer, and Wake of Death, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. The latter has received rave reviews across Europe and the United States and will have theatrical debuts in several countries later this year.
Martinez's upcoming projects include producing Irish Jam, starring Eddie Griffin, and Land of the Blind, starring Ralph Fiennes and Donald Sutherland, as well as directing another high-budget, action-packed feature.
