Biography

Philippe Lemaire, a talented individual, entered the world in 1927, his early life marked by the unfortunate circumstances of being an orphan. Despite this, he was drawn to the idea of joining the French Navy, only to eventually pursue a career in the film industry in 1945. As he grew in popularity, he became renowned in the 1950s and 1960s for his collaborations with esteemed actresses such as Jeanne Moreau and Michele Morgan, all under the guidance of notable directors like Roger Vadim, Jean-Pierre Melville, and Alexandre Astruc.

Tragically, Philippe Lemaire's life came to a close on March 26, 2004, just one day after his 77th birthday, when he took his own life by throwing himself under a subway train in the City of Light, Paris. Prior to this, he had been married to the iconic French actress Juliette Greco from 1953 to 1956, and the couple had a daughter, Laurence Lemaire, who survives him.
