Peter Gordeno, a multifaceted British artist, was born on June 20, 1939, in Rangoon, Burma, to an Italian American father and a Scottish/Burmese mother.
He is most renowned for his collaborations with renowned composer and arranger John Barry, but his work extended far beyond this partnership.
In the 1970s, Gordeno gained widespread recognition due to his appearances as Peter Carlin, a submarine captain and combat pilot, in the Gerry Anderson television series UFO.
On stage, he made a notable appearance in the 1968 London production of Man of La Mancha, where he played the role of Anselmo, a muleteer, and sang the solo part in the song "Little Bird, Little Bird".
Gordeno's film credits include Secrets of a Windmill Girl (1966),The Touchables (1968),The Urge to Kill (1989),and a brief appearance in the final Carry On film, Carry On Columbus, in 1992. He also worked as a choreographer on several film projects.
In addition to his performing career, Gordeno hosted the television broadcasts of the EMI UK & World Disco Dancing & Freestyle Championships from 1979 to 1981, introducing the competitions with his own performances.
Sadly, Gordeno passed away on October 18, 2008, at the age of 69, in London, after a long battle with cancer.
His son, also named Peter Gordeno, is a songwriter and producer who has been touring with Depeche Mode since 1998.
