Biography

Here is the biography of Paul Fix:

Paul Fix, born Peter Paul Fix on March 13, 1901, in Dobbs Ferry, New York, was a renowned movie and TV character actor. His parents, Wilhelm Fix and Louise C. Walz, were German immigrants who settled in New York City in the 1870s.

Fix was the youngest of five children, including two girls and three boys. He grew up on a 200-acre property where his father was the brew-master of the Manilla Anchor Brewery. After his parents' deaths, Fix was sent to live with his married sisters in Yonkers and Zanesville, Ohio.

At the age of 17, Fix joined the U.S. Navy during World War I and spent his state-side service time in Newport, Rhode Island, and Charleston, South Carolina. He began acting while stationed in Newport, participating in the Navy Relief Show "HMSPinafore".

After his naval career, Fix married Frances (Taddy) Harvey in 1922 and moved to California. He worked as an actor, writer, and director, appearing in over 300 films, including silents and early talkies. Fix also wrote the screenplays for three films: Tall in the Saddle (1944),Ring of Fear (1954),and The Notorious Mr. Monks (1958).

Fix is best known for his role as "Marshal Micah Torrance" in the popular TV series The Rifleman (1958). He appeared in numerous Westerns, including films with John Wayne, and worked with notable directors like John Ford and George Stevens.

Fix died on October 14, 1983, at the age of 82, due to kidney failure. He was survived by his daughter, Marilyn Carey, and son-in-law, Harry "Dobe" Carey, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
