Paul Agusta, a multifaceted individual, was born on September 1, 1980, in the bustling city of Jakarta, Indonesia. His early life was shaped by his Indonesian upbringing, which later influenced his decision to venture to America to pursue his passion for film at a prestigious film school.
Upon completing his studies, Agusta returned to his homeland, where he embarked on a diverse career in the film industry. His impressive resume boasts a range of roles, including film critic, a profession he retired from in 2007, film programmer and curator, filmmaker, writer, actor, and arts educator.
Agusta's creative output has been recognized and celebrated globally, with his short and feature films showcased at numerous prestigious international film festivals, such as the International Film Festival Rotterdam, BiFan, Vancouver International Film Festival, Hawaii International Film Festival, and many more.
In addition to his film endeavors, Agusta is also the co-founder, alongside Khiva Iskak, of Bengkel Akting Kuma, an esteemed acting workshop that has garnered recognition for its excellence in the art of acting.
