Patrik Karlson's illustrious acting career began in 1991, when he took to the stage in Willy Russell's play "Blood Brothers", captivating audiences with his portrayal of the lead character, Mickey, and earning widespread acclaim.
Around the same time, Karlson co-founded the theatre company Teater Amabile in the picturesque village of Klippan, Sweden, alongside Heléne Lindquist. He remained with the company until 1996, when he joined the Regional Theatre of Skåne, marking a new chapter in his artistic journey.
In the spring of 1999, Karlson made his debut as a playwright and director with the monologue "Följ mig till tidens rand" ("Follow me to the end of time"),in which he wrote, directed, and starred as the sole character, "The man". The production toured Sweden throughout that year, solidifying Karlson's reputation as a talented and versatile performer.
In the year 2000, Karlson made the pivotal decision to relocate to the city of Malmö, Sweden, which would signal a shift in his focus towards film, marking a new era in his career.
Following his move to Malmö, Karlson began to make a name for himself in the world of film and television, appearing in productions such as "Wallander - The fifth woman", directed by the late Birger Larsen, and the popular Swedish comedy series "Hipp Hipp". Since then, he has worked on projects in Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Spain, and the UK.
In 2013, Karlson landed the lead role in the feature film "LFO", directed by Antonio Tublén, a performance that earned him international recognition. The film was picked up by actor Elijah Wood and his production company SpectreVision, and subsequently made the rounds at film festivals worldwide. Additionally, "LFO" has been made available on various VOD platforms, including Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, and Hulu.
