Patrick Lope is a renowned director, producer, and editor with a remarkable career spanning over two decades. He began his journey in the television industry at MTV News + Docs in 1997, where he would go on to make a lasting impact.
Throughout his tenure, Patrick produced numerous episodes of the critically acclaimed MTV documentary series, True Life, showcasing a diverse range of subjects, including drug addiction, pregnancy, Muay Thai fighters in Thailand, a jockey, elopers, mixed martial artists, bodybuilders, professional gamers, high school football stars, and competitive eaters in Japan, to name a few.
In 2009, Patrick produced the documentary, Kanye West Presents: Homecoming, which followed Kanye West on tour. This was just one of many highlights in his career, including a trip to the Brazilian Amazon, where he lived with and filmed the Panara Indians. Patrick has also had the opportunity to film in the pace car at the Daytona 500 and on tour with Nine Inch Nails.
Patrick's work has taken him to some remarkable locations, including Shaquille O'Neal's home in Los Angeles and the court-side at an NBA All-Star game. He has also filmed with actress Jennifer Lopez on a trip to Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
In addition to his work at MTV, Patrick has also produced and edited a documentary for CNN titled, CNN Presents: Fried. His feature-length documentary, The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was released worldwide in 2014.
In 2018, Patrick received a New York Emmy Award for his work as a Supervising Producer on a documentary program about the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, solidifying his reputation as a talented and accomplished director, producer, and editor.
