Ozan Aciktan was born in 1978 in the city of Eskisehir. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Ankara University's Faculty of Communication, Radio, TV, and Cinema, graduating in 2000.
During his academic years, Aciktan began creating short films, which later gained international recognition and accolades. He also gained experience as an assistant director in the film and television industries.
Following his undergraduate studies, Aciktan continued his education at the prestigious Polish National Film School in Lodz, specializing in the department of director of photography from 2002 to 2004.
After returning to Istanbul in 2006, Aciktan received the Best 2nd Short Fiction Film award at the Metro-Tursak Short Film Contest. This achievement granted him the opportunity to study at the renowned Baden-Württemberg Film Academy in Ludwigsburg, Germany, focusing on script-writing and dramaturgy. Additionally, he attended the prestigious Berlinale Talent campus in the same year.
Aciktan's impressive work earned him the "Crystal Apple" award for Best Director at the Turkish Association of Advertising Agencies in 2006, as well as a second "Crystal Apple" award for Best Director in 2008 for his work on the "Ipragaz-the dog" commercial.
